Friends,
I’m still on my social media break, so this post will be short and sweet, like blackberries on a summer morning.
First, I’m sharing Mary Oliver’s poem, AUGUST, from her collection DEVOTIONS, to help cool you off and leave you with a happy tongue.
I’ve been having a really creative, happy month filled with excellent books, cool beverages, and damn good movies. Are you finding ways to enjoy your dog days of summer as well? Tell me what you’re up to because even though being off social media is very good for my brain, I miss seeing your faces and updates.

Lastly, if you’re looking for a poetry collection to read for the latter half of the month, I suggest Marie Howe’s New and Selected Poems. Good reading, big thinking.
Until September, I remain,
Kayla Cagan
(Spoiler alert: after September, I will still be Kayla Cagan.)
I also have been picking blackberries!
